My paintings are a visual translation of personal observations, experiences and reactions to life and my place in the world. They are about allowing one's self to be sensitive to nature, silence, simplicity and beauty.
I believe every work of art is a collaboration of the artist and the viewer. Everybody will see the work through his or her own eyes. I do not have ownership on how my paintings are interpreted or felt. I hope that they inspire the viewer to allow his or her eye to linger. I hope that the viewer feels drawn in and engaged. I want the paintings to be aesthetically interesting, but not overtly or inherently "about" anything. They are non-narrative, quite and still. There is no sense of urgency to see what is going to happen next, or what occurred before. I like to think of my paintings as meditative, eliciting introspection and contemplation. They are concerned with peace, quietness and the transient characteristics of light and atmosphere. I strive for my paintings to be beautiful and poetic.
